It&#8217;s not just about being ordinary or extraordinary; rather, it&#8217;s about understanding that success and failure lie on a spectrum, with concentration playing a pivotal role in tipping the scales towards excellence.<\/p>\n<h3>The Extraordinary Power of Concentration<\/h3>\n<p>Concentration isn&#8217;t just a tool; it&#8217;s the hidden driver of excellence. It forms the foundation for productivity, fuels creativity, enhances emotional intelligence, and ultimately leads to fulfillment. In a world that glorifies multitasking and quick results, the need to slow down and focus on one task at a time is urgently necessary.<\/p>\n<h3>Slowing Down for Quality Output<\/h3>\n<p>Today&#8217;s fast-paced lifestyle often pushes us towards \u2018Multi\u2019-tasking, where we juggle multiple things simultaneously, leading to a deterioration in the quality of our output. However, by slowing down and focusing on one task at a time, we can accomplish more meaningful results in less time.<\/p>\n<h3>Examples from History\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>Throughout history, great minds have showcased the power of concentration. Jain scriptures, handed down through generations via memory before being recorded, highlight the immense capacity of focused recall. These began as discourses by Lord Mahavir, which subsequently were handed down from one generation to another only through memory and were written down 800 years after Lord Mahavir&#8217;s nirvana! Swami Vivekananda&#8217;s ability to remember whatever he read on the Encyclopaedia Britannica, including every comma and full-stop, is nothing short of stunning ! Ramanujam&#8217;s focus on his &#8220;third eye&#8221; (between the eyebrows) before solving equations are all testaments to the impact of concentration.<\/p>\n<h3>Modern Challenges<\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0However, in today&#8217;s digital age, distractions abound. Teens glued to their screens, addicted to the internet \u2013 chatting, gaming, social media, virtual reality \u2013 are giving rise to previously unheard-of national health crises, in Taiwan, Korea, Japan and other Asian countries. From a behavioral epidemic it inevitably, is turning into mental and emotional issues, namely teen depression, bipolar disorders and so on.<\/p>\n<p>Even at the workplace, a few years ago you would make a five-minute presentation, or longer, to your clients. Today you have to limit it to one minute or less! In fact, not listening with attention is at the top of the list of complaints that patients have about their doctors, these days. All of this points to the challenges we face in maintaining focus; the reality of a human world with shorter attention spans! Mark my words: Whatever you want to achieve, just start seeing it happen &#8211; focus your whole mind on seeing it &#8211; gradually you will start attracting it.<\/p>\n<h3>Embracing Concentration for a Fulfilling Life<\/h3>\n<p>By practicing the following principles and tips, derived from real-life experiences during Preksha meditation sessions, you can enhance your daily experiences and overall well-being. Remember, concentration isn&#8217;t just about what you do; it&#8217;s about putting your full energy and awareness into every moment. Take the proactive steps outlined below, and unlock the transformative power of concentration in your personal and professional endeavours. Your ability to remain focused amidst distractions will lead you towards greater joy, productivity, and fulfillment in life.<\/p>\n<h3>From Now Onwards:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Concentration flourishes in a pure mind, free from anger, illusion, and greed. Practice moving these emotions from intense to medium, slowing down the restless mind.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Set aside at least 10 minutes daily for stillness of the body, calming the mind and preparing it for focused tasks.<\/li>\n<li>Inhale deeply, exhale with a humming sound, focusing on the throat. Feel the calming influence on your brain&#8217;s neurons.<\/li>\n<li>Close your eyes, visualize each organ, and suggest each to relax.<\/li>\n<li>Concentrate on your breath, counting inhales and exhales from 1 \u2013 100 and then backward from 100, anchoring your mind in the present moment.<\/li>\n<li>Tune into your heartbeat, allowing its rhythm to sync with your focus.<\/li>\n<li>Lower your eyebrows and look into your closed eyes.<\/li>\n<li>Concentrate on the middle of your tongue for inner stillness.<\/li>\n<li>Before bed, recall your day&#8217;s activities, enhancing memory and mental clarity.<\/li>\n<li>Engage fully in activities, achieving a state of flow and rhythm that boosts happiness and fulfillment. Put your full energy in whatever you do.
